I Love Vintage Easter Decor

I love Easter décor. Even though I decorate most extensively for fall and Christmas, Easter décor brings me such joy!  I love the beautiful pastel colors, the adorable chicks and bunnies ~ and I love what this season signifies ~ rebirth, renewal, and the resurrection of Jesus. While modern Easter décor is often colorful and playful, it is the vintage and antique Easter décor that really captures my heart.  These items offer a delightful way to bring lovely color and cheer to your home. I am always looking to add to my very tiny collection of Vintage Easter decor.

Types of Collectible Easter Decor

1. Easter Egg/Chocolate Molds

Easter egg and molds, particularly from the early 20th century, are some of the most sought-after collectible items. Made from metal or tin, these molds were originally used by chocolatiers to create Easter treats. They often feature intricate designs, such as floral patterns, delicate carvings, and embossed detailing. Some molds were even personalized with names or dates, making them an interesting historical artifact. Collecting these molds has become a popular hobby, as they represent both Easter traditions and the early days of chocolate-making.

2. Porcelain and Ceramic Bunnies

Perhaps the most iconic symbol of Easter, bunnies have long been featured in seasonal decorations. Vintage porcelain or ceramic bunnies from the mid-1900s, often painted in soft pastel colors, are highly collectible. These bunnies might be depicted in various poses—standing upright, holding baskets, or hopping through fields of flowers. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in these figurines make them stand out, and they are perfect for adding a whimsical touch to any Easter display.

3. Egg Cups and Egg Holders

Vintage egg cups and holders were once a popular way to serve Easter eggs. Made from fine china, porcelain, or even hand-painted wood, these delicate items often feature intricate designs or playful shapes. Whether shaped like chickens, rabbits, or flowers, vintage egg cups evoke a sense of charm and are often used as display pieces during the Easter holiday. Some egg cups even feature collectible motifs from famous artists or iconic brands like Royal Worcester or Hummel, making them highly coveted by collectors.

4. Easter Greeting Cards and Postcards

Vintage Easter cards and postcards are a charming way to explore the history of Easter celebrations. Many of these cards, dating back to the early 1900s, feature intricate lithographs of bunnies, chicks, and Easter baskets. The messages on these cards often reflect the more religious or traditional aspect of the holiday, adding a unique, historical perspective. Collectors seek out these vintage postcards for their beautiful artwork and the glimpse they provide into the social customs of past generations.

5. Glass Eggs and Ornaments

Glass Easter eggs are a beautifully decorative collectible item, often hand-blown or molded into intricate patterns. These delicate eggs, which originated in Europe, were used as both Easter decorations and gifts. Many feature colorful hues or etched designs, and some even contain hidden surprises, like small trinkets or chocolates inside. They are stunning as standalone pieces or as part of larger collections. Whether antique or vintage, glass Easter eggs provide a lovely, elegant touch to any Easter setting.

6. Easter Basket Decorations

While modern Easter baskets are typically filled with chocolates and toys, vintage Easter baskets were often handmade from woven straw or wicker. They may be adorned with ribbon, lace, or even delicate fabric flowers. Antique baskets, especially those from the early 20th century, may have an added layer of charm thanks to their unique craftsmanship and materials. Vintage baskets are wonderful additions to Easter decor, especially when paired with colorful eggs or charming figurines.

Where to Find Vintage Easter Decor

The hunt for vintage and antique Easter décor can be as rewarding as the collection itself. Flea markets, estate sales, and antique shops are great places to find unique pieces. I know that I am always hoping to find vintage Easter at the thrift store! The thrill of the hunt continues .....
